Anurag Kashyap is one of the most commendable filmmakers in Bollywood, who can be credited to have created some of the most impactful films, such as Gangs Of Wasseypur, Bombay Velvet, Dev D, Manmarziyaan, Raman Raghav 2.0, Ugly among many others. All of Anurag’s projects till date have captivated the audiences with its deep-rooted reality check, and they do not represent a painted reality without flaws. Coming to his personal life, the filmmaker got married twice, first with Aarti Bajaj and later to Kalki Koechlin. Unfortunately, both the marriages dissolved and they got divorced. Nonetheless, Anurag continues to share an extremely amicable bond with both his ex-wives. He also has a daughter, Aaliyah from his first marriage to Aarti.
Recently, while speaking with his daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap in the podcast, Young Dumb And Anxious, Anurag Kashyap revealed how he has concluded that he isn’t a relationship person. Explaining a bit more, the filmmaker says that his obsession for films and the celluloid clashes with the requirements for a healthy relationship between two partners. Citing how the unpredictability of the film world in India has a mammoth share of reason behind his hectic workload, Anurag said:
“I have realised that I am not a relationship person. I can’t because of my obsession with my films, my work and with the kind of films I make… I would have been very good in relationships if I was born in Europe and making films there. Because there is a royalty system. Because the money would keep coming in. But here, there is no royalty, there’s no system like that. So I have to make more films at a higher frequency as compared to someone who is working with a big star, who is making one film in five years.”

Speaking along the same lines, it was Anurag’s daughter, Aaliyah, who teased him to get married again. She revealed that after her dad got divorced from her mom, Aarti Bajaj, she always fantasised that the two of them would get find a partner in their respective lives again and she might stand a chance to get a sibling from either of them. In her words:
“I just want a sibling. Since I was a kid, I was an only child. I thought since you and mom are divorced, both of you will date different people and I will get at least one sibling from one of you.”
Responding to her daughter’s witty remark, Anurag Kashyap then responded how he has absolutely no chance of getting married again. Moreover, he emphasised that he was too old to sire a child. In fact, Anurag Kashyap even went on to remark how he already had been a terrible father for her daughter, Aaliyah, for the longest time. He credited his ex-wife, Aarti Bajaj for taking care of his daughter in his absence and raising her in the most beautiful way.

Previously, in one of his interviews with Zoom, Anurag Kashyap talked about his equation with his ex-wives, Aarti Bajaj and Kalki Koechlin. The filmmaker remarked that they were quite young when they took the decisions of marriage and subsequently divorce. But with time, they realised the mistakes they perhaps had done back then. Adding how the three of them are now friends, Anurag said:
“When we were young, we made our mistakes. We are mature enough to admit to our mistakes and address our mistakes. Hota hai,abhi bhi kuch pending nikal aata hai. We are friends."
